But this project in particular was launched last year. It all started with a workshop held by faculty for internal students, an initiative that led to an application for support from the management team. So it’s a united and motivated group that is preparing to leave. “We aim to have 24 students from general, technical and professional fields from the first to second year of BTS, just like in high school. We also target a group of scholarship students and interns from different archipelagos. These students are involved in the life of the school and make it shine. Most of them have never had the opportunity to travel outside of Polynesia”Alexandra Solacroup, teacher of literature and history, stressed that she will be travelling with Guillaume Lescrenier, teacher of physical education.
For one week from August 30 to September 7, high school students will have the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. “The four sports assigned to us are: wheelchair basketball at the Bercy Arena, athletics for people with disabilities at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, equestrian for people with disabilities in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles and bocce, similar to boules, at the Arena Sud. It’s very diverse, both in terms of practice and location, so it’s ideal””, said the physical education teacher, who had earlier touched on the subject of disabilities.
In addition to these sporting events, there is also a program “Culture and Citizenship” The students will visit the Quai Branly Museum, the Palace of Versailles and the National Assembly, where they will be received by MP Nicole Sanker. They will also appear at the Ministry of Overseas Territories with other overseas delegations. “The media team, led by French teacher Corinne Tahimanarii, has been putting the show on air, in videos and exhibitions, and the Marquesan company is preparing a show that will be staged at the Levallois Town Hall. For Jérôme Le Guillou, principal of Taiarapu Nui High School, who will be at the school for a few days, this is both an achievement and a step. “The challenge is a two-way cultural and international opening, as they will also represent Polynesia in Paris. We hope that this will give them the ambition to continue, so that this first trip is not the last. This is not the end, but the beginning of something in the institution, as we are already planning for the 2027 Pacific Games.”
Noari: “I’m from La Romathe. This is my first time leaving the territory. I’m looking forward to it, like everyone else! I was in the va’a group when we learned about this project and it inspired me to continue. This trip will open doors for us. The visit to Quai Branly and the wheelchair basketball tournament interested me.”
Imperial Glory: “It’s the first time going there and it will be a great experience as the leader of the troupe and the boys, dancing for Nuku Hiva. We are preparing a 40-minute Tahitian and Marquesan dance show. We will start with some percussion. I’m really looking forward to riding horses because horse racing is my profession.”
