In light of the global economic challenges that have affected living conditions in Egypt, the National Citizens’ Action Coalition for Development has become a fundamental pillar in supporting the State’s efforts to provide a decent life for its citizens, especially those most in need. The role of the Coalition extends beyond providing material assistance to bringing about tangible changes in the lives of the Egyptian people at multiple levels and even at the regional level, especially in light of recent events in Gaza.

The National Coalition has contributed to strengthening the concept of governance of civil work and the institutionalization and management of social cohesion processes by mobilizing the efforts of more than 30 of Egypt’s leading civil society organizations and institutions and unifying their vision under a framework aimed at serving Egyptian citizens. This coordination has helped to expand the range of beneficiaries served by the Coalition and to allow aid to reach those who deserve it more effectively.

We can describe the role of the National Alliance in coordinating development work as the “conductor” leading the “symphony orchestra” of development work in Egypt in recent times, which plays a very important role in activating the balance between civil work and promoting development. On the one hand, it is a determinant of national security, because there are always links between some development agendas and civil society institutions and agendas that do not contribute to strengthening national stability, so the role of the National Alliance ensures that civil proceedings are jointly initiated in an effective and safe manner.

The role of the Alliance is not limited to providing in-kind and material assistance, but also to implementing specific initiatives aimed at empowering the most vulnerable and supporting them to become productive members of society. For example, the Alliance works to provide job opportunities for young people, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and provide training and qualification services for those who want to enter the labor market.

The National Coalition has played a prominent role in supporting the country’s efforts to respond to crises and disasters, as it has provided emergency relief to those affected in the many events Egypt has witnessed. The Coalition has also contributed to supporting the people in the Gaza Strip, sending relief convoys and providing medical and food aid.

The National Coalition also clearly reflects the Egyptian state’s keenness to support and develop the civil work system and its belief in its important role in achieving comprehensive development. This vision is reflected in the recently enacted legislation and laws that aim to regulate the work of civil society and provide an atmosphere that supports its development and sustainability.

In conclusion, we can say that the National Alliance for Civic and Development Work has achieved remarkable success in reversing the stagnation of civil society and civic work in Egypt and has contributed to getting civic work back on track in Egypt, with a unique model of civil work development and active participation in charity and development work at the local and regional levels.
