After struggling all night, Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Zach Collaros stepped up when his team needed him most.
Collaros led a 72-yard drive late in the fourth quarter and passed to Kenny Lawler in the end zone with 19 seconds left, giving Winnipeg a 26-23 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in front of a packed house at Princess Motor Arena.
Winnipeg has now won three straight and sits atop the Western Conference at 5-6, one point behind the Saskatchewan Mounties (5-5-1).
It wasn’t a game to remember for the Bombers quarterback, who had three interceptions on the night as the offense didn’t find the end zone until the final minute. He now has 12 interceptions, tied for the most in the Canadian Football League.

The Bombers seemed to be in control of the game, leading 16-3 in the third quarter.
But Hamilton found the end zone twice in the quarter and led 20-19 going into the final 15 minutes.
With the Ticats leading 23-19, the Bombers regained possession with less than two minutes left and capped the drive with a big score.
Bombers running back Brady Oliveira extended his CFL lead in rushing, gaining 120 yards on 18 carries.
Bombers offensive lineman Stanley Bryant was taken off the field on a stretcher early in the first quarter. He was seen leaving the stadium with an IV bag and a towel wrapped around his head.
He was taken to a hospital for further evaluation but is currently conscious and stable, the bomber said.
Winnipeg’s other touchdown came on a fumble recovery in the second quarter when Michael Ayers picked up a loose ball on a Hamilton punt return and took it 27 yards for a touchdown.
The Bombers will now play their annual back-to-back game against the Roughriders in September, which will be held next Sunday (September 1) in Regina.
The pregame show will begin at 4 p.m. on 680 CJOB, with kickoff shortly after 6 p.m.
