On August 22, the government and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) restarted a project to build four small hydroelectric power plants. According to the authorities, the work will last for 18 months. The power plants will be built in the towns of Gambula, Barrow, Mbaiki and Bambari. The work started in 2018 but was stopped due to insecurity in the hinterland. The project aims to provide electricity to the residents of these municipalities.
