Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited“Undergraduate Summer Internship Program” and “FinTech Future Leaders Academy” Internship ProgramA successful conclusionThis year, the number of interns reached a record high of over 110, with more than 40% coming from Europe, nearly 40% from the United States and Canada, and about 10% each from Asia Pacific and Hong Kong. ASTRI CEO Ye Chenghui said that the program will equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to explore Hong Kong’s innovation and technology ecosystem. He hopes that the program will enable more young scientific research talents to understand the development opportunities in Hong Kong and join the innovation and technology industry after graduation.

Participate in scientific research projects and visit enterprises

During the 8-week work experience, interns were able to personally participate in a number of ASTRI’s technology R&D projects under the guidance of senior researchers, such as vehicle networking technology testing, building a test model for crane safety technology, designing avatars and programming, researching retail technology solutions, and writing white papers. Some interns learned the steps from project development and promotion, customer communication, to knowledge transformation through work such as market planning, technology transfer and customer development, and explored opportunities to work in R&D institutions.

Outside of work, ASTRI arranged for interns to participate in the “Tech Talk” scientific research and technology seminars and visit a number of companies and institutions, including Bank of China (Hong Kong)02388), Cyberport, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), Hong Kong Monetary Authority, IBM, Microsoft Hong Kong and Hong Kong Science Park Innovation Experience Center, etc., to communicate with industry experts face to face and broaden their horizons in innovation and technology. ASTRI also organized a series of social and sports activities, including jogging along the Pak Shek Kok Seaside Promenade and bowling challenge, to enrich their life experience in Hong Kong.
