Tawfiq Mukah incident: businessman’s daughter calls on Qasr Said to intervene
Maroua Mkacher Romdhani has appealed to the President of the Republic, Kaïs Saïed, to intervene in the interests of his father, businessman Taoufik Mkacher, who has been detained since October 30, 2023.
In a video posted on August 23, 2024, Maroua Mkacher Romdhani said that his father had filed a request for criminal reconciliation 14 months ago. She revealed that a hearing had been scheduled with members of the National Commission for Criminal Reconciliation, but Taofik Mkacher was prohibited from attending. The Commission would be satisfied with the presence of the businessman’s lawyer.
Taiufik Mkacher’s daughter recalled that according to article 25 of Decree No. 2022-13 of March 20, 2022 on criminal reconciliation, the Commission must negotiate with the parties involved.
She explained that her father had to be present in order to complete the mediation process and find an arrangement. She also said that the committee’s work would end in three weeks and if her father was absent from this hearing, he would miss out. She called for law enforcement and an end to her father’s suffering.
