The event brought together more than 300 kuduro artists from across the country, with the aim of conveying to local communities the spirit of protection, maintenance of public assets and attention to environmental hygiene to avoid diseases that can lead to death due to poor waste management and inadequate sanitation systems. In Luanda province, the event took place in the commune of Bom Jesus, with the participation of famous artists such as Príncipe Ouro Negro, Dj Neil, K2 and Sibem do Gueto, among others.
Chilola deAlmeida, initiator of the campaign and chairperson of Coaka, said that this initiative is a response to the numerous calls by the Angolan government to protect the environment, preserve and strengthen public goods and save moral and civil rights and values.
Chilola de Almeida stressed that the initiative aims, among other things, to promote civic participation and praise the patriotism of the artistic class and other sectors of society.
The initiators stressed that “the fact that the Kudurista people from 18 provinces across the country, using hoes, brooms, machetes, wheelbarrows and other cleaning tools, created an unprecedented moment deserves the gratitude of the local community.”
The president of the Angolan Agricultural Cooperative of Kuduristas (COAKA), Chilola de Almeida, said the initiative should be repeated next January.
According to the official, the event received technical and institutional support from the provincial government, the Angolan Youth Institute and the Kudurista Association.
