Nana Ama Mcbrown was accused of lying about her age

Ghanaian actress Nana Ama McBrown A video circulating on social media showed critics questioning the date of birth she provided – August 15, 1977.

According to them, a check of the calendar revealed that the date was Monday, while Nana Ama McBrown had always claimed that she was born on a Saturday.

In a typical Akan family, children are usually named after their date of birth. The Akan use the Kwa system of timekeeping, which follows a six-day week (“nnanson”), including a seventh day.

For example, in Ashanti culture, men and women born on Sunday are called Kwasi or Kwesi and Akosua, respectively (meaning “related to the universe”). Children born on Monday are called Kwadwo or Kojo, and Adjoa or Adwoa (meaning “related to peace”). People born on Saturday are called Kwame or Ama (meaning “related to God”).

Given this naming convention, if Nana Ama McBrown was indeed born on a Monday, her name would have been Nana Adwoa McBrown, not Nana Ama, which would indicate that she was born on a Saturday.

However, these speculations are just random assumptions by social media users who believe that the actress and TV host might have lied about her age.
