Despite strong winds blowing in Reykjanes, photographer Björn Steinbekk managed to capture impressive aerial photos of fresh lava flowing in the Sandnoorks crater series, where you can see glowing lava flowing in the dark.

The crater’s northerly orientation is quite sharp, which made it difficult for photographers to launch a drone to capture this spectacle. However, Bilney was eventually successful and captured these amazing photos of the erupting lava plumes and fresh lava.

When scientists flew over the crater tonight, they estimated it was about four kilometers long. Geophysicist Magnus Tumi Guðmundsson estimated that about 1,500 to 2,000 cubic meters of lava had poured out, covering an area of about five square kilometers.
