OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Osvaldo Bido struck out six in five innings and won his third straight start to lead the Oakland Athletics to a 3-1 win over Tampa Bay on Thursday.
Lawrence Butler, Miguel Andujar and Darrell Hernaiz each added two hits to help Oakland split honors in the four-game series.
Biedaud (5-3), one of the A’s’ go-to pitchers over the past two months, shined again against the Rays, allowing one run and two hits to tie the longest streak by an A’s starter this season.
JP Sears and Mitch Spence also made three straight starts.
After walking two of his first three opponents, Bido retired nine straight games and extended his scoreless streak to 18. Panama’s Jose Caballero broke the streak with an RBI double in the fourth inning.
Mason Miller pitched in the ninth inning and got his 20th save, the third-most by a rookie in team history.
The loser was Jeffrey Springs (1-2), who allowed three runs and seven hits in three and a third innings.
Cuban Yandy Diaz of the Rays went 4-1. Dominican Christopher Morel went 4-2 with a single, and Junior Caminero went 1-0. Panamanian Caballero went 4-1 with an RBI.
In track and field, Dominican Andujar is 4-2. Puerto Rican Hernaiz is 2 for 4 with an RBI.
