Second Riyadh Health Gathering raises awareness of importance of breastfeeding

The Riyadh Health Cluster II has carried out internal field activities within its health sector and external field activities coinciding with the World Breastfeeding Week, which included commercial malls and government institutions, to enhance awareness and education on the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits to the health of both mother and child.

The conference said that these activities are aimed at encouraging mothers to breastfeed and emphasize that breast milk contains the nutrients necessary for the child’s growth and protects the child from diseases. The educational materials explain the multiple health benefits of breastfeeding, correct some misconceptions, and explain the correct breastfeeding method with the participation of many experts in the field.

The Second Riyadh Health Conference seeks to initiate such on-the-ground initiatives, believing in their important role in society to raise health awareness, spread a culture of disease prevention, and directly highlight through advocacy messages support for breastfeeding and its relationship to mental health, the role of good nutrition and its impact on breastfeeding and children.
