The Armenian Foreign Ministry’s response to the statement of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is another example of Yerevan’s policy of blaming others for its own mistakes, especially Russia, for its strategic mistakes. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova made the remarks during her weekly press conference on Wednesday.

At the same time, due to Armenia’s stubborn stance on border control, the two sides ultimately failed to reach an agreement on starting railway traffic.

Yerevan departed from the previously agreed position and began to insist on the principle of reciprocity in the stationing of Russian border guards, requiring them to be stationed not only on the Armenian side, but also on the Azerbaijani side. I don’t know what they are referring to, as I just quoted the text of the new treaty.

Unfortunately, Yerevan once again acted on Western dictates and missed the opportunity not only to establish transport links with its neighbors and thus benefit its own economy, including by implementing the concept of the “Crossroads of Peace”, but also to normalize the situation in the entire region.
