(France24).- The dispute between Kylian Mbappé and his former club Paris Saint-Germain has intensified, with the player taking legal action, claiming that the club still owes him at least $61 million in wages for his final months and other bonuses that could result in a debt of more than $100 million.
Mbappe left for Real Madrid after seven years at the Parisian club. However, disagreements over the circumstances surrounding his departure have seen the star player fall out with PSG management and its main shareholder, Qatar Sports Investments, which withheld payments to the France captain.
Amid rumours that he was unhappy at the time, Mbappe released a farewell video thanking his PSG teammates, the staff at the Parc des Princes and, most importantly, his fans for their loyalty and support, although there was no tribute to the club’s directors or owners.
According to French newspaper Le Monde, the conflict has moved to the Professional Football League (LFP), and Mbappe’s lawyers say they are also willing to take the case to the Labour Court if the sport’s governing body does not come up with a solution.
PSG insists its financial actions were sound and confirmed talks with Mbappe and his representatives are continuing.
