Portland police detectives have charged eight people in connection with the Aug. 7 murder of a man at his home on Bamboo Tree Lane in the Fairy Hill section of the parish.

Police said the charges came after weeks of intensive investigation.

Three of them were charged with murder.

They are 31-year-old Shane Phillips, aka “Taliban”, 19-year-old Dominique Perkins, aka “Kentay”, and 18-year-old Raheem Dixon, aka “Squidly”.

They came from St Andrew and St Catherine addresses.

Meanwhile, five other people, including a teenage boy, have been charged with murder.

They are taxi driver Xavier Carty, 30, gardener Chad Hylton, 21, bricklayer Fabian McIntosh, 19, Caavan Jacobs, 19, and a 17-year-old boy from Mannings Hill Road, Kingston 8.

Detectives said Orlando Louden, 50, was at home about 11:45 a.m. when two men armed with handguns attacked him and shot him several times.

The men tried to flee but Portland police responded quickly and three vehicles were stopped on the parish’s main road in Pasley shortly after the incident.

The occupants of the home were arrested and investigators continue to investigate.

Investigators reportedly seized two firearms during a systematic search of one of the motor vehicles in the days following the incident.

Once detectives completed their investigation and questioned the eight men, they were charged with murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Their court appearance dates are being scheduled.
