The nine-day Purana will be held at the Divya Panchayan Mandir of Kunsel Palace in Thimphu with around 10,000 devotees from across the country participating in the Hindu Smonlam Chenmo.
The Hindu Church of Bhutan will hold a prayer meeting for His Majesty the King and His Royal Highness on August 10, wishing His Majesty a long life and peace and prosperity for the country.
The event was also attended by the Prime Minister, Cabinet and MPs.

Normally, Smonlam Chenmo is held for only three to seven days.
Today’s Smonlam Chenmo is the unique and sacred Lha Wangphyuk and Khyabjug. The event is jointly organized by three councillors and is the first time it has been held in Bhutan.
The Bhutan Hindu Association was established in 2009 with the name Sanathan Hindu Manapa Dharma Sarpadi Dharma and the Kiratis were formed on the basis of priests and tribesmen.
DB Panchan temple was built on the orders of His Majesty the King and the temple cost Rs 65 million.
