A man is said to have suffered “life-threatening injuries” after he was driving the wrong way on Mosgiel Road and collided head-on with another car.
Senior Constable Anthony Bond said police were called to the scene 7 o’clock last nightyes following reports of a two-vehicle crash near Riccarton Road East.
A 37-year-old man was driving in the wrong lane, crossing a double yellow line and striking another vehicle head-on.
It took New Zealand Fire and Emergency teams from Mosgiel and Cape Lookout to free the man from the overturned car.
“His injuries are described as life-threatening,” Sheriff Bond said.
Three passengers in the other vehicle were also taken to hospital for their own safety.
A serious accident analyst attended the investigation and the road was closed for several hours during the investigation.
