British tycoon Mike Lynch, nicknamed the “British Bill Gates” for his work in the technology sector, is among those missing in the sinking of a luxury sailboat off the southern Italian island of Sicily.
The 59-year-old businessman co-founded software company Autonomy, which was acquired by giant Hewlett-Packard for $11 billion in 2011, a move that saw him face fraud charges in the United States, of which he was acquitted last June.
Lynch also founded cybersecurity company Darktrace, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
