Seven asphalt roads to be constructed in Nyamata district
The construction of these roads was officially launched today (August 19, 2024) by Bugesera District Mayor Mutabazi Richard and other officials, representatives of the LODA agency, NPD-COTRACO construction agency and representatives of the private sector (PSF). ), fishermen, motorists and other general road public users.
There are seven roads to be built, located in the city of Nyamata, but the total length is 2 miles and 100 meters. The construction will be completed at a cost of more than Rwanda 2 billion and Rwanda 232 million. The management of the LODA Institute is responsible for collaborating with the Belgian Institute “ENABEL-Rwanda” as a sponsor of the road construction project to promote local development.

This is a multi-agency event
From today, among the roads to be built in Nyamata, the road that starts from the sidewalk in front of the Bugesera Youth Center, passes under the Nyamata Health Center, passes through Café- Drive and officially starts operation. It reaches the Rubis gas station on the main dirt road.
The other is the road that starts at the intersection next to the Bank of Kigali building and continues past the former White Bank to the gravel road that leads to Karambi/Kasilu.

The road passing through the intersection near the BK office building will also be paved
There is also a road that goes from St David’s Hospital through Babikira to the helipad leading to Bugesera Stadium. Another is the street below the Post Office, passing by Racin School and Lachinta Motel (Hilton Motel) to the main road. Another road leads from the paved road to Nyabivumu, passing by the Savannah Motel and onto the main road.
Some road users said they were happy that the road would be paved as it would not only improve the aesthetics of the city but also help them travel more smoothly as the roads are full of potholes, especially during the rainy season, making them difficult to use, reports Ntirenganya Jean Pierre, a professional fisherman who transports people and goods on bicycles.

Another road will be built from under the post office, between the Racine School and the La Quinta Motel to the main road.
“You can pass.”
Rutagengwa Francois, a resident of Nyamata town and one of the owners of various business activities on one of the roads to be constructed, said it was very interesting to see the construction of the road as it would enhance the level of services he provides.

Some people who frequently use the roads, mainly fishermen, appreciated the construction of these roads as it will make their work easier.
He said: “I think you see that we are all very happy, in fact, there are big things to solve, because there are problems that do not allow the work to go smoothly, because the work I do includes receptions, weddings, so like guiding them in the rainy season to meet their needs, we have problems with the lack of customers, but this problem is the problem of the road to solve, so that the money is available (…) We are very happy and I think in my heart that although the trucks are already moving, when they talk about “eight months, I hope it will be over before those months, maybe three or four months”.
NPD representative Rukundo Frank said that as Nyarwanda Road Construction Company, their goal is to have these roads completed in a short time, but everything will come with the cooperation of different agencies, including the regional government and other agencies.

NPD representative Rukundu Frank said their goal as Nyarwanda Road Construction Company is to build the road efficiently and quickly.
He said: “NPD COTRACO, as a Nyawanda company, we like to get things done on time and well because it makes us proud. Building this road will make our lives easier because the asphalt factory is in Bugesera. Also, when we go to a place to work, the first thing when it comes to providing jobs is the residents, which means that building the road will provide jobs for many young people.
Bugesera District Mayor Mutabazi Richard asked everyone to do their part to build the road as soon as possible because some stakeholders including companies like WASAC complained that they should not remove the tyres quickly, REG will not be able to complete it on time if the fire is not removed quickly, people affected by the road construction are demanding compensation from the maintainers, etc.

Bugesera District Governor Mutabazi Richard asked everyone to do their part to build the road as soon as possible.
He said: “In fact, we will run 2 kilometers for donors, partners, and it will increase. We are proud of ourselves because in these 5 years, we will talk to them and more. You will hear from the beginning that if this money keeps coming from outside to run 2 kilometers, that is, how many miles we are going to run every year, how many miles do you think he will run, and then multiply it by 5 years? I feel that you are one of those who have received them, but even if they have not come yet.
“From the way the money was received, they said they wanted money that they could use immediately, and it was like an experiment, and I would say we are seeing if Bugesera has the ability to use the money quickly, will we provide more funds? So if we work together, if we build it well and quickly, then we will succeed, and then more money will come, because it is obvious,” said Yunzemo.

The mayor asked people to work together and not lose the fight against the actions against them
He went on to say: “So, the district’s commitment is that we will work with everyone in different ways to get this road open to traffic soon, and we have unwaveringly put it in the district’s commitment, so if we fail, we will all be defeated, but as far as I know, no one believes that Bugesera district will be defeated, so we will defeat it”.

The total length of all these roads is 2 miles 100 meters
