President House of Representatives, Rafael “Tatito” Hernandezconfirmed that when he ended his political career after falling out of favor in last June’s primary election, he already knew what he was going to do for the next four years.
When interviewed by our station WKAQ 580current president and representative of the Chamber of Commerce People’s Democratic Party (PPD), He said he would aim to become a “government enabler,” a term better known as a lobbyist.
When reporters discovered his plan had been exposed Ruben Sanchez He asked if he would attend the Democratic convention in the United States, to which the delegate said he was already heading to the private sector.
“Remember, I’m already moving toward the private sector, I’m moving in that direction,” the chamber president said.
In view of this, the reporter asked him: “Do you know what you are going to do?”
Hernandez responded by saying that once his term as House speaker ends on Dec. 31, he will use the connections he built during his political career to work as a lobbyist in the private sector.
“I call him a government promoter, a combination of a lobbyist, an administrator, a promoter, because government, unfortunately, no matter how many laws and regulations there are, you have to know the way. As this agency does…some things are governed by statutes, some things are administrative procedures, some are provided by law, and there are a lot of people who want to do business in Puerto Rico, especially in the financial field, in the construction field, and they need help and support, and that’s where I’m going to be. Part of that is the good relationship we have on the executive and legislative sides,” said the chamber president.
Last June, Hernandez challenged the mayor Carlos Lopez Doradoran for mayor of the city under the PPD. However, he was not favored, so his political career ended in this four-year term.
