Jakarta(ANTARA) –
The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) said the development of the capital of Nusa Tenggara (IKN) provides good opportunities for the establishment of housing cooperatives involving public servants (ASN).
Ikhwan Primanda, vice chairman of the Kading National Product Utilization Improvement Committee (P3DN), said in a statement issued on Monday that hundreds of thousands of ASNs that will move to IKN can form thousands of housing cooperatives.
Considering that IKN is applying an expensive smart vertical housing concept, the cooperative could help reduce the burden on the state budget.
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) is constructing as many as 47 residential buildings in the new capital at a cost of Rs 9.3 trillion.
Primanda said the participation of cooperatives in IKN housing construction could accelerate the transfer of civil servants to the new capital.
The economic activities of IKN cooperatives can start with residential development and then expand to other services such as trade, cooking, accommodation and transportation.
Primanda said that like general housing developers, the initial capital of the housing cooperative is land, and if ASN is willing to move into Forest City to start a new life, the government can give them the land as compensation.
“For cooperatives to continue to grow, every time the government issues business licenses to large investors, it must also provide concessions or similar licensing and financing facilities to cooperatives,” he added.
He added that the cooperative development model, if implemented in parallel with private enterprises, would help IKN develop its economy independently.
