The 10th anniversary commemoration of the HWPL World Peace Summit will be held in South Korea, Fiji, Canada and about 50 countries around the world from September 18 to mid-October 2024. The theme of the event is “Creating a World Peace Community through Regional Cooperation”, which aims to commemorate a decade of commitment to peace by global leaders and citizens and look at future strategies to promote global harmony.

In 2014, the international peace organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) convened more than 1,000 global leaders from politics, religion, women’s groups, youth organizations and the media from about 140 countries to hold the first HWPL World Peace Summit in Seoul. The summit discussed conflict resolution, religious harmony and the implementation of legal instruments to ensure lasting peace.

HWPL said the anniversary aims to review achievements since 2014 and discuss future plans. The event aims to gather regional talent and build the networks necessary to develop tailored peace strategies, strengthen regional networks to address local threats to peace and leverage collective capabilities. To achieve this, various meetings will be held in each country at different levels.

As part of the regional peace strategic network building efforts, staff from the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG) under HWPL said that to mark the 10th anniversary of the HWPL World Peace Summit, a Peace Rugby Games will be held in Fiji in October. Together with ARUKA Fiji volunteers and members of the Fiji National Youth Council who participated in the Human Rights Network Seminar in August last year, they hope that this event will become a platform for unity, harmony and peace among Fijian youth.

With the slogan “Let Everyone Be a Peacemaker”, HWPL advocates the responsibility of individuals to promote peace at all levels. HWPL plans to collect peace messages from all over the world and publish them at the event to express the desire for peace and the desire of people from all walks of life in the world to unite in the name of peace.

Driven by an agreement signed in 2014, over the past decade HWPL has worked with its global partners to address global challenges such as military tensions, economic disputes, climate change and cybersecurity threats through enhanced regional cooperation and collective action. HWPL works to build a strong framework for peace governance, linking international organizations, governments and civil society.

In 2023, on the occasion of the 9th anniversary of the founding of the country, HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee said: “Why do wars sacrifice young lives? What is politics? For whom? When war breaks out, young people are often sacrificed. Peace cannot be achieved by empty talk alone. If this world peace wins, there will be no regrettable deaths. We must leave peace as a legacy to the global society that future generations depend on for survival.”
