ZAGREB – In the first half of 2024, foreign cruise ships made 244 round trips in the Croatian Adriatic Sea, 7% more than in the same period last year, receiving about 350,000 passengers, an increase of 24%, according to the Croatian Tourism Bureau and the National Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
In June, foreign cruise ships made 100 round trips in the Adriatic Sea, 2% less than in July 2023, while in all other months since the beginning of 2024, the number of such voyages increased slightly.
But even in June, while the number of cruise ships decreased, the number of passengers on cruise ships increased significantly – 142,600, an increase of 18.6% over June last year.
As in the previous six months, the largest number of foreign cruise ships sailed under the Bahamas and Malta flags in June, which also carried the most passengers, about 90,000 in June alone and about 175,000 in the first six months.
In the first six months of this year, 57 foreign cruise ships sailed to and from the Adriatic Sea, one more than in the same period last year, but the number of trips was 244, an increase of 7%.
These cruise ships welcomed a total of 350,500 passengers, an increase of 67,700 passengers, or 24%, compared to the first six months of 2023.
Statistics also show that cruise ships stayed in Croatia slightly shorter than last year, at 524 days, a decrease of 2.2%.
Most of the round-trip flights take place in Dubrovnik-Neretva County and Split-Dalmatia County, and the most visited ports include Dubrovnik, Split, Zadar, Hvar, Korčula, Šibenik and Rovinj.
