A man, yet to be identified, was killed in a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Sunday along Akarigbo Road in Saga Musabo, Ogun State.

The state police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed this to our correspondent on Sunday.

Our correspondent learned from the command center that the accident took place around 11:30 am when a Toyota car with registration number LND125VD lost control and collided with a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FFF450VH ridden by Friday Oni.

Our correspondent gathered that the impact of the collision threw the commercial motorcyclist and nearby pedestrians into the gutter.

While the driver of the vehicle fled the scene to avoid arrest, PUNCH Online learnt that both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The pedestrian, who was not identified, was later pronounced dead by doctors at the hospital.

Odutola said, “The driver of the vehicle was reportedly travelling towards Kara, Sabo, Sagamu when he collided with a motorbike rider who at the same time knocked down a pedestrian walking along the road and subsequently fell into the gutter.”

“The pedestrian and the motorcycle rider, who are yet to be named, were immediately rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital for treatment but unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed at the hospital.

“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene of the accident but before the police and others reached the scene of the accident, his truck was set on fire by IRATE youths.”

She noted that the body of the pedestrian had been removed and taken to the OOUTH mortuary, while the vehicle wreckage and damaged motorcycle had been salvaged and transported to Sagamu for safekeeping and examination.
