August 18, 2024. – German police have arrested 24 protesters and opened 31 criminal investigations against those who gathered to demand that Israel end its genocide against the Palestinian people.

According to local media reports, about 250 people gathered at Moritzplatz in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Saturday, and the number of demonstrators has increased to about a thousand to express support for the Arab people’s cause and condemn the actions of the Israeli army, which has killed more than 40,000 civilians, most of them women and children, since October 7 last year.

Meanwhile, security forces decided to crack down on the demonstrations, with protesters throwing “30 to 40 bottles of water and eggs” at the police cordon.

According to the Chronicle, more than 400 police officers were immediately deployed to end the call.

The crackdown culminated in the detention of more than two dozen protesters and the filing of 31 legal cases against people exercising their right to protest.

Due to the fierce resistance to the Israeli occupation and the genocide in Gaza, many countries in Europe are systematically criminalizing anyone who demonstrates against the ruling power of German imperialism in the European Community.

Germany and its unconditional support for Israel, as a state rationale, criminalizes any act of resistance.
