CARACAS – Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has begun a verbal crusade against opposition leader Maria Corina Machado, whom he accuses of having signed a deal with businessman Elon Musk and the Church of Satan in the United States.
Addressing a crowd mobilized in support of the election results, unknown to the radical opposition, the president declared: “Sayona (a Venezuelan folklore figure) wears medals and some weird stuff, and he’s with Elon Musk and the Church of Satan in Detroit.
«That’s why I say we are facing an evil Goliath. “Elon Musk is scared and he’s withdrawing from the fight,” the re-elected president said.
In recent weeks, Musk has published several posts against the Venezuelan government on the social network X, which he owns, which has led to a heated exchange between the president and the tycoon. This led to the social platform in Venezuela being suspended for ten days for inciting hatred, pending final administrative measures.
The results of the presidential election on July 28 gave Maduro a third term, but the extremist opposition did not recognize the result, sparking riots in the first few days after the election.
The Venezuelan government denounces the radical opposition as aiming to overthrow Maduro through rebellion, with the support of the United States and at the behest of Venezuelan institutions, especially the National Electoral Council (CNE).
