Last year, more than 19,000 students could not find accommodation in dormitories. This year, hostels in Astana and Almaty are in short supply. This is what the representative of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education pointed out. In addition, there are many student dormitories in the country that are more than half a century old. – A modern student dormitory has been opened at one of the higher education institutions in Astana. There are 158 rooms. Each room can accommodate 2-3 people. There are study rooms, toilets, and a dining hall.
Students living in this dormitory pay 25,000 tenge per month. The price of student dormitories ranges from 250,000 to 60,000 tenge.
Azamat Zhumataev, Director of University Student Dormitory:
– The project has a seating capacity of 2,600 students. According to the memorandum, we will build 1-2 additional hostels to accommodate about 6,000 students.
Astana has 43 dormitories for 16,000 students. Another six will be operational by the end of the year. However, some hotels in the capital have not yet been renovated.
