According to information collected by the National Police (VP), in the past 24 hours the National Police (VP) stopped 17 drunk drivers of cars or motorcycles on Latvian roads.
Four drunk drivers were stopped in the Riga region, four in Vizeme, three in Kurzeme and six in Ratgar. Of the 17 drunk drivers, six are expected to bear administrative responsibility and 11 to bear criminal responsibility.
The person behind the wheel, if the alcohol concentration in the body exceeds 1.5 parts per thousand, will be held criminally liable, and in addition to a fine, the vehicle will be confiscated if it is an offender. If the drunk driver does not own the vehicle, then in addition to the fine, he will be charged a sum of money that can reach the market value of the vehicle he is driving.
