Russia launched its third ballistic missile attack on Kiev since August on Sunday. The announcement was made by the Ukrainians, who claimed the missile was shot down near the city, Mediafax reported.

The Ukrainian military has launched an investigation and said a North Korean missile may have been used, Reuters reported.
“This is already the third ballistic attack on the capital in August, and the interval between each attack was exactly six days. According to preliminary information, it is very likely that Russia has again used North Korean ballistic missiles for the third time in a row,” announced Serhiy Popko, head of the Kyiv Military Administration, on Telegram.
Popko also said Ukrainian air defense forces also destroyed several drones launched by Russia overnight. There were no reports of casualties or damage.
Ukrainian air force officials said air raid sirens were sounded again about two hours after the attack in Kiev, surrounding areas and much of central and northeastern Ukraine.
The Russians opened fire
Russian attack drones also targeted the city “almost simultaneously,” authorities said, but they were also all “destroyed” by air defense systems in the area surrounding Kyiv.
The same source added: “Kiev has not detected any damage and has not received any information about victims”.
Ukraine has been hit by deadly missile and drone attacks and Kiev has asked its Western allies to provide it with more air defenses to defend itself.
According to the West, North Korea provided weapons to Russia for its attack on Ukraine, and in return it received assistance, including in the space field.
A 35-year-old man and his 4-year-old son were killed and three people were seriously injured by a falling rocket during a Russian attack on the Ukrainian capital late last week, according to rescue services.
On the other side of the front line, Russian air defense forces destroyed a total of five Ukrainian combat drones in the Belgorod and Rostov regions bordering Ukraine between Saturday night and Sunday, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Saturday that Ukrainian troops were reinforcing their positions in Russia’s Kursk region, more than ten days after launching a major offensive inside Russia in which Kiev claimed to have captured 82 towns and 1,150 square kilometers of territory.
