Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal said at a government meeting that during the one-year operation of the Ukrainian maritime corridor, more than 2,300 ships entered Ukraine’s Black Sea ports and more than 44 million tons of grain were exported from Ukraine.
Ukraine organized sea passage for merchant ships after Russia withdrew from the grain deal last summer.
“From the first days of the invasion, Russia did everything it could to blockade Ukraine’s ports on the Black Sea. As a result, the enemy puts pressure on Ukraine’s economy, but also on our allies and poses a threat to global food security. That is why one of Ukraine’s biggest victories last year was the opening of the Ukrainian maritime corridor,” Shmyhal said.
