“He never received an invitation from the presidential general secretariat,” a member of Villarruel’s entourage told NA yesterday, following reports that had speculated he would attend a dinner with the president.

In turn, they said that “she regretted not being present” because “she knew everyone there and would have loved to attend the event”, but “she was not in the habit of going places where she was not invited,” they stressed.

The vice president’s absence from the Defense Ministry ceremony opened a new chapter within the ruling party after diplomatic issues with France led to his statement that the country was practicing colonialism.

This Saturday, Villarruel will be received by the governor of the province of Mendoza, Alfredo Cornejo; his deputy, Hebe Casado; and radical senator Mariana Jury, at a San Martín Death Center event organized in Las Heras, Mendoza city.
