Yesterday, prosecutor Carlos Rivolo submitted a brief to Judge Julian Ercolini to continue the analysis of Alberto Fernández’s phone number, which could be useful in the insurance case. It was one of the devices seized last week following a raid in the province of Puerto Madero, where the former president lived, and was carried out within the framework of another dossier launched following a complaint of gender violence by Fabiola Yañez.
In the first case, the mobile phones of the agent Héctor Martínez Sosa and his wife, María Cantero, a former secretary to the head of state, were seized. Cantero’s phone contained conversations and photos in which Fabiola Yáñez said she was beaten by the then-president, which became the trigger for the complaint of gender violence.
The Ministry of Justice seized the device, which is currently in its possession, last Friday (August 9), at the request of prosecutor Carlos Rívolo, as Yáñez detailed the harassment she had suffered in recent weeks from Fernández, which they will now seek to verify. Meanwhile, Rívolo has taken action again to find further evidence of the reported violence within the date range, as he requested the analysis of mobile phone material that could be useful for the initial cause.

According to the documents obtained by PERFIL, the prosecutor requested: “Regardless of the limitations that your Honor may ultimately order regarding the analysis of the information that may be obtained from these devices and their subsequent inclusion in the aforementioned documents, and taking into account that the technological tools usually used to carry out such extractions do not allow for limitations, but rather the extraction of the entire content of the devices; I hereby request the VS, taking into account that when analyzing and evaluating all the information extracted from these devices, the VS confirms the presence of elements relevant to the present case, in which the named persons are under investigation, to be added as evidence in these proceedings.”
The Nación Seguros case has now progressed with the conversations between Cantero and her husband, Hector Martínez Sosa, her agent. During the exchange, the couple proposed that they form a duo to conclude insurance contracts with various public organizations with the help of the then-president. She is the main defendant in the matter, as she was the contact person for the then head of state.
Part of the analysis of Cantero’s phone, contained in a more than 400-page report, shows how Martínez Sosa hoped to retain insurance business with the National Gendarmerie, which eventually happened. But the conversations in turn reveal how Cantero and her husband sought contracts with different organizations.
In addition to Alberto Fernández, Pablo Torres García (Ances) and the husband of former secretary Héctor Martínez Sosa were also accused, who “would have been beneficiaries or middlemen of the aforementioned contracts, that is, those who received significant amounts of money from the operations carried out with the support of the aforementioned decree.”
The fact is that once a mobile phone is opened, other conversations may appear that lead to new causes. This was the case with Cantero’s phone, which culminated in the scandal that today has Alberto Fernandez accused of serious injury and coercive threats. A week ago, Fernandez handed over his opened mobile phone when it was searched. He assured his lawyers that many of the conversations with Fabiola had been deleted, so it is not clear if the same thing happened to his other contacts.
