Enel Chile Distribution Public statement to be issued on Friday In view of the Electricity and Fuel Regulatory Authority (SEC) decision to continue with the concession expiry process.

“In this recent real climate disaster, Enel Distribución Chile SA responded promptly and fully to every request established by the Electricity and Fuel Regulatory Agency (SEC) to restore electricity to its customers, so his statement, as well as that of the Minister of Energy, surprises us.
“Nevertheless, we have every confidence that once the SEC has all the information and documentation regarding the action taken, it will make a positive assessment of what was done. This was an unusual and unpredictable storm, with winds of up to 124 km/h in the metropolitan area, which toppled more than 2,000 trees, over 800 utility poles and large branches, destroyed the aerial distribution network and caused damage comparable to that observed during the 2010 earthquake.
“Enel Distribución Chile has invested all the local human, logistical and material resources, even obtaining reinforcements from Italy and other Latin American countries, sparing no expense, in order to respond to our most concerned customers.
All of the above actions have been carried out with full respect and compliance with current electrical regulations and SEC instructions, and we will continue to do so in line with our attitude as a serious and responsible company.
“Today we continue to work on site for customers to rebuild and repair the extensive damage sustained by the network.
“Chile’s national electric utility has been and will continue to be committed to creating the conditions for a more resilient network that will allow us to respond to abnormal, unusual and increasingly profound climate phenomena,” he said.
