The rise and fall of the Dutch East Indies. This is the theme of the new permanent exhibition at the Blombeek Museum in Arnhem. Minister Ruben Brekelmans opened it today.

Between 1816 and 1949, the Dutch East Indies was a colony of the Netherlands. The western half of New Guinea remained that way until 1962. Conquest and administration, society, wars and struggles for independence. Everything is discussed in the exhibition. And also how the Netherlands and Indonesia now look back on this shared history.

Real experience

With plenty of interactive spaces, videos, photos and objects, the exhibition is a real experience. By visiting them more often, visitors can also distinguish different points of view. Come and see and form your own opinion!

The oldest veterans’ home in the Netherlands

Bronbeek is not only a museum, but also a home for veterans of the armed forces and the former Royal Netherlands East India Army. Bronbeek is set in a historic manor house and entry is free.
