The term fraud can be simply understood as a dishonest act performed by an individual or group in order to obtain a calculated advantage. In other words, fraud is a wrongful or criminal deceptive act designed to obtain an unfair financial or personal advantage.
Fraud is a risk faced by the financial services industry, and banks and other institutions work hard to reduce the risk of fraud in a variety of ways to protect customers’ funds and prevent financial loss. Centenary Bank has a zero-tolerance policy towards fraud.
It is therefore our responsibility to educate our employees and customers through various channels about the risks posed by fraud and to implement systems to protect our customers and the Bank from the negative consequences of such activity. This page is dedicated to raising public awareness of fraud through education, so that you can protect yourself from fraud.
Avoid asking strangers for help in or around ATM halls. If you need help, contact a Centenary Bank employee wearing ID.
When entering your PIN, make sure you cover the ATM keypad with your hand so that others cannot see it.
Once the transaction is complete, collect your cash and receipt and confirm you are leaving with the correct card.
If you see any suspicious persons in or around the ATM hall, please report to the security guard or bank staff. Or call the toll-free number 0800200555 (MTN) and 0800335344 (Airtel).
CenteVisa Card Tips
If you have lost your Visa card or it has been stolen, you should immediately block it using the CenteMobile option or report the loss to the bank immediately by calling the toll-free number 0800200555 (MTN) and 0800335344 (Airtel)
Do not share your CenteVisa card details with anyone i.e. your PIN, the 16 digit number on the front of the card and the 3 digit number on the back of the card should be kept secret.
Do not share your Visa card photo with anyone.
Center Online Banking Tips
It is recommended that you access our CenteOnline banking platform only through the official Centenary Bank website (www.centenarybank.co.ug) and use the “padlock” symbol to indicate that it is secure.
Create a strong password that is not easy to guess. Your password should contain a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols, such as L@$$w0rd
Please remember to always log out of your CenteOnline account before closing your browser.
Email message alert
Before replying or sharing sensitive information, please try to analyze the sender’s email address and if in doubt, contact the bank through our designated communication channels.
We strongly advise against opening attachments or links in emails from unknown senders or filling out forms that require personal information.
CentMobile Banking Tips
Do not share your CenteMobile PIN with anyone and make sure to sign out of your CenteMobile or agent bank account after completing the transaction.
Do not share your One Time Password (OTP)
Do not exchange SIM cards with other people.
Do not log into your hub phone on a public network.
Do not take screenshots from your Hub Mobile Banking App.
We encourage you to delete text messages regarding your banking transactions after you have read and acted upon them.
WhatsApp Tips
Do not open unsolicited links.
Do not forward malicious links through WhatsApp.
Do not forward personal bank details to anyone via WhatsApp.
Please do not associate with anyone claiming to be from Centenary. We do not have a WhatsApp number yet.
General fraud prevention tips
Prohibition of Bribery: Do not offer or accept bribes to any of our employees in exchange for banking services.
Banking Hall: When in the banking lobby, avoid asking strangers for help. Make sure to only contact bank staff wearing Centenary Bank ID cards and report any suspicious persons or activities in the banking lobby to the bank staff present.
