On the afternoon of Friday, August 16, 2024, a charred body was found inside the abandoned Mariano Abril school in the Rio community, Tomé district, Guaynabo city.

According to the information provided, uniformed police officers responded to a call from the Guaynabo Police District in an ongoing investigation and found a dead person at the scene.

When agents arrived on scene, they found a charred body inside the said school.

Agents from the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigation Corps (CIC) of Bayamon are investigating the case.

Police identify body found floating on Boqueron beach

At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2024, Puerto Rico Police Department agents assigned to the FURA Maritime Division in Cabo Rojo received a call reporting a body found floating at the stern of the boat. The Cabo Beach House business is located in the Boquerón area of ​​the town of Cabo Rojo.

Workers from the Cabo Rojo District and the Emergency Management Administration arrived at the scene and found the body of a man identified as Francisco Echevarría Orengo, 57, a resident of Boquerón.

There were no signs of violence on the body.

Sergeant Juan Martínez of the Homicide Squad and Special Agent Carlos Lugo of the Technical Services Division worked at the scene while prosecutor Yanitza Negrón ordered the body to be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Sciences (ICF).

Man in Fajardo jail for murdering stepfather and injuring mother

A man named Karl De Jesús Gómez, 49, who lives in Fajardo, is in jail because he cannot pay the bail for the attempted murder and knife murder of his stepfather. Last Wednesday, his mother was injured in a residence in Villa Clarita, Fajardo.

According to police reports, De Jesus Gomez had an argument with his 72-year-old stepfather Billy Cruz. He then used a knife to inflict multiple wounds, resulting in his death. In addition, he also injured his 82-year-old mother Maria Gomez’s left forearm, requiring medical assistance and currently in stable condition.

Judge Alexander Espinosa established probable cause for arrest on all charges and imposed worldwide bail of $900,000, which he did not post.

The subject has been booked and is being held in the Bayamon prison until a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 26, 2024.
