Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Friday that Poland will strive to host the Olympics in 2040 or 2044, Reuters ReportTusk said it was not yet clear whether that goal was realistic for Poland, but he said he believed he could do a lot to make it happen.

“Taking into account the initial decision and the statement from the IOC, we can talk about 2040 or 2044,” Tusk told reporters at a press conference on the modernisation of the football stadium.

Poland co-hosted the European Football Championship with Ukraine in 2012 and hosted the European Multi-Action Games last summer, but has never hosted the Olympics.

Poland’s previous government said it would bid for the 2036 Summer Olympics. Los Angeles will host the 2028 Summer Olympics, and Brisbane, Australia, is preparing to host the 2032 Olympics. Egypt has also said it will bid for the 2036 and 2040 Summer Olympics.
