Gozo Diocese announces new appointments to various ministriesThe Diocese of Gozo announced in a statement on Friday the new appointments related to various sectors of Church life in Gozo “in accordance with current needs and requests”.

The new duties will take effect on Sunday, September 14, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Holy Cross.

The details are as follows:

At the beginning of the 2024-2025 Pastoral Year, two diocesan communities will have a new pastor:

Fr. Krystof Buttigieg (Qala) – Archpriest of St. Peter and Paul Parish, Nadur (Parish Administrator since April 2024)

Fr Edward Vella (from Gharb) – Parish Priest of Ghasri (Parish Administrator since May 2023).

Other new work at parish level:

Fr Geoffrey G. Attard (from St George, Victoria) – pastoral partner at Dal St Guzep Nursing Home in Ghajnsielem;

Dun Giovanni M. Curmi (from Munxar) – Visiting Secretary for the Pastoral District for the coming year;

Monsignor Giovanni B. Cremona (from St. George in Vittoria) – pastor of the Church of the Annunciation in Vittoria;

Can. Michael Mifsud (from Garb) – Collaborator of St. Lawrence Parish;

Rev Joe Said (from Xaghra) – Chaplain of Gozo General Hospital and Parish Priest of Jesus of Nazareth Community in Xaghra;

Monsignor Jimmy Xerri (St George, Victoria) – Representative of the Episcopal Church;

Bishop Michael Xuereb (from Xewkija) – Bishop’s Representative for Elders;

Augustinian and Franciscan friars – assist in pastoral work at Dar San Guzepp, Ghajnsielem.

In the pastoral work of spiritual directors:

Fr Arthur Cutajar (Franciscan friars) – Served at Gozo College and Aguis De Soldanis Secondary School in Victoria.

The Gozo Church said it wanted to thank all those priests and faithful “who remained dedicated and committed to their work until the last weeks. Above all, thank Heavenly Father for all the good that he has done through them and for the people of God who have been entrusted to their hands to enjoy these good things.”

The diocese encourages all communities to pray for these brothers in parishes and families during these weeks.
