AKIPRESS website – The pests have attacked more than 26,000 hectares of farmland in Jalal Abad district.

According to the Chemical, Plant Protection and Quarantine Directorate under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industries in Jalal Abad, experts provided assistance to farmers and landowners in controlling pests.

A total of 39,000 hectares of farmland in Jalal Abad district were inspected. Particularly dangerous pests were found on 26,000 hectares of land. This includes 5,000 hectares in Suzak district, 6,000 hectares in Bazar-Korgon district, 11,000 hectares in Nokken district and more than 4,000 hectares in Aksi district.

More than 22,000 hectares of land were treated with chemicals.

The Chemical, Plant Protection and Quarantine Department provided specialized equipment, fuel and lubricants, and pesticides. The Jalal Abad District Administration established its headquarters with the assistance of the Jalal Abad District Governor.

In addition to controlling locusts, measures are also taken to protect food crops, perennial herbs and fruit trees from pests.

Forest workers use biological treatment methods in the forests of Jalal Abad area as these forests fall under the biosphere zone.
