The 2024 Rarotonga football season heats up this week with the CIFA complex set to host an exciting round of midweek matches, headlined by Matavela-Ngatangia taking on Titikaweka.
The Matavera-Ngatangiia senior women will take on Titikaveka today at 5pm.
Titikaveka enjoyed a morale-boosting first win last week and will be looking to carry that momentum into this match, hungry for another three points. Meanwhile, Matavella Ngatangia currently have four points and will be eager to widen the gap on their rivals, who are just one point behind.
This game will be a tactical battle with both teams ready to exploit any defensive lapses.
Hannah Siwo of Titikaweka scored a hat trick in her last match and will be one to watch out for as she continues her good form. On the other hand, Kimberly Wuni of Matawira-Ngatangia is a force to be reckoned with and her thunderous long-range shot is proving to be a lethal weapon.
The day’s action will kick off with the U15 Boys match at 4pm, setting the stage for an exciting night of football.
Competition between the two teams will continue on Friday, with the U15 girls taking to the field at 4pm, followed by the main event – the Super Boys clash between Matavera-Ngatangiia and Titikaveka, which will take place at 5pm.
This game will be a closely fought contest with both teams eager to climb up the league table.
Titikaveka just won their first game and got three points. They hope to win consecutive games to accumulate strength. Matavella-Ngatangia currently has six points. Their goal is to consolidate their position in the top half and widen the gap with their opponents.
Matavella-Ngatangia’s attacking trio of Alfie Ngier, Paul Poira and Julius David have played a key role in their team’s recent performances, showing flair and skill in the final third. Meanwhile, Titikaweka’s Tangi Akawa and Sisa Pickering have been outstanding this season under the astute guidance of Te Ariki Piri and will be looking to stamp their authority on this match.
