Maher Beida, director of the Damascus Domestic Trade and Consumer Protection Bureau, revealed that a warehouse at a food wholesale center was sealed, containing 300 boxes of children’s food weighing a total of one ton, including biscuits, cookies and potato chips with forged production dates and expiration dates for deceptive purposes.
Beida confirmed that the entire amount of violations will be seized and the necessary seizure of violators will be organized, and their presence will be handed over to the competent judicial authorities.
In an interview with Sham FM, Bayda added that a workshop in a warehouse in Damascus was sealed for cleaning chicken bones and chicken remains, violating the regulations on possessing chicken that is not fit for human consumption and reusing it in production. Five tons of chicken that is not fit for human consumption were seized and properly destroyed by the violators. It was handed over to the Damascus Criminal Security Department to complete the investigation and prepare to hand it over to the competent judicial authorities.
The Director of the Damascus Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Directorate called on citizens to cooperate and report any cases or locations where materials that endanger citizens’ health and food safety are present.
