A Nicaraguan national with an extensive criminal record and who was banned from entering Costa Rica has been arrested for illegally bringing more than three tons of Chiquique liquor into the country.

The arrest was made about two kilometers from the route known as the “Border Trail” after police stopped a truck carrying the two Costa Ricans and Pinolero.
An inspection of their shipment revealed 66 bags containing quequisque from Nicaragua.
Given Pinolero’s extensive criminal record, he has an effective deportation order from Costa Rica and is banned from entering the country for 10 years.
The person had a criminal record for aggravated robbery, armed assault, resisting authority and hospitality, so he was handed over to the immigration police for deportation.
