Two climbers were taken to hospital with serious injuries after falling rocks on the steep rock face of Chief Stawamus Peak. Squamish, British Columbia Thursday.
A search and rescue team was called to the scene after two climbers, a man and a woman, were hit by falling rocks while climbing a rock route known as “Liquid Gold”.
“It looks like they were hit by falling rocks while climbing,” Squamish said. Search and Rescue Search Manager Mike Teske.

The male climber tried to grab a rock but it broke, throwing him 40 feet down the wall and crushing the female climber’s legs, Crews said.
The climber was roped and pinned to the wall, requiring a high-tech rescue from the cliff face using the BC Wildfire service helicopter.
“This is the most technical problem, it’s on the face of Mount El Capitan … there is a significant rockfall hazard in that area,” Teske said.
Both were airlifted to Squamish and then taken to hospital by air ambulance.
