Eleven delegates issued a statement calling for an end to the activities of incitement and lynching of colleagues and members of the National Regional and District Committees and Regional, Regional and Local Committees for their sponsorship of certain candidates.
The elected officials expressed their support for their colleagues and other victims of these campaigns in a press release issued on August 15, 2024. They condemned the use of threats and defamation. The representatives believe that this is an attack on their constitutional right to sponsor candidates, despite their political leanings and party affiliations.
The signatories of the press release also called on the existing powers to take the necessary measures against these electronic crimes, which are serious acts against representatives, affecting their dignity, as well as the electoral atmosphere and its transparency. They also called on Parliament and its institutions to take responsibility, stand with the MPs and protect them.
Notably, the statement was signed by: Ali Touali, Mohamed Ali, Thabet El Abed, Dhafer Sghiri, Yassine Mami, Chokri Bahri, Mohamed Ben Salah, Abderrazak Aouidet, Taher Mansour, Mokhtar Ifaoui, Messaoud Grira and Abdeljalil Heri.
