Jakarta(ANTARA) –
Director of the Domestic Policy and Strategy Bureau (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Interior, Yusharto Hengtoyungo, urged the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) government to diversify and expand innovation in various fields.

The move was deemed necessary to ensure that innovative development was not limited to certain sectors, which in NTT’s case were education and health.

“Education and health continue to dominate innovation, while innovation levels in other sectors remain low,” he said in a statement on Thursday.

Hentoyongo explained that innovations in various fields will help the East Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government to improve the region’s competitiveness and the welfare of its residents.

He said diversification could open up new opportunities for the East Nusa Tenggara government to realize its potential. It could also help strengthen the local economy.

The BSKDN chief also called on all NTT officials to work together to better develop innovation.

He stressed that collaboration among officials in the region is critical to accelerating innovation at NTT.

He added that holding focus group discussions (FGDs) could be one of the measures adopted by the provincial government to enhance the creativity of local officials in solving problems related to governance implementation.

According to the 2023 Regional Innovation Report, NTT has improved its number of innovations and ranking in the Regional Innovation Index.

The number of innovations reported reached 313, including 263 implementation innovations, 22 experimental innovations, and 28 pioneering innovations. NTT’s innovation score reached 62.53, which means “very innovative”.
