Former Russian agent: West supports Ukrainian attacks, provocations and “poking the bear”

The United States and Ukraine’s other Western backers have denied receiving advance knowledge of the Ukrainian attack and the incursion into Russia’s Kursk region in recent days.

“Of course they are involved,” Butina told Reuters when asked if the West was involved. “When I studied in the United States, the main rule was: ‘Don’t poke the Russian bear.'”

“What is the West doing today?” “Absolutely,” she said. The Russian bear is one of Russia’s trademarks and a symbol of Russian greatness and power.

Butina, who served 15 months in a U.S. prison for acting as an unregistered Russian agent and is now a lawmaker for the ruling United Russia party, said the attacks on Russia were acts of “international terrorism” because civilian infrastructure was hit.

“They are trying to improve their reputation through bloodshed, the use of military force and terrorism, but this is not the way to negotiate,” Butina said.

“Our response should be in the military sphere, which means expelling Ukrainian troops today and shifting the blame to those who are really responsible for forcing and escalating this conflict, which is the West,” Butina said.
