This Wednesday, the Mayor’s Office and the inhabitants of the historic centre of La Ita will organize a festive event in the Gerónimo de Osorio Square and a historical and traditional tour of the Tarapacá or Kullku passage to mark the 453rd anniversary of the founding of Villa Oropesa.

Both events are a prelude to the groundbreaking ceremony of the Villa de Oropesa, which will be celebrated on August 15 this year.

The Villa of Oropesa has two records created by order of Viceroy Francisco Álvarez de Toledo. The first is dated August 15, 1571, by Captain Gerónimo de Osorio, and the second is dated January 1, 1574, by Sebastián Barba de Padilla.
