Electron microscopy (EM) has completely changed the way cells are observed, and 3D electron microscopy (vEM) has even improved imaging capabilities to the three-dimensional nanoscale level. The research team led by Professor Haibo Jiang of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, and Professor Xiaojuan Qi of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Hong Kong,DevelopmentA diffusion model based onAlgorithmThis image processing technique is calledEMDiffusewith the goal of enhancing imaging capabilities and addressing application limitations of EM and vEM.
Taking traditional 2D electron microscopy applications as an example, EMDiffuse can restore realistic and high-quality images from noise or low-resolution images while retaining high-resolution ultrastructures. The research results were published in academic journalsNature Communications.
