Munir Nasravi, father of footballer and current European champion Ramin Yamal, was stabbed during an alleged brawl in a Mataró parking lot and has been transferred to the Canruti Hospital in Badalona, where his prognosis is serious, according to reports from La Vanguardia.
Mounir Nasraoui was stabbed in a parking lot in the town, about 30 kilometers north of Barcelona, after an argument with some men who scolded him while walking his dog and who returned shortly afterwards to look for him, the Barcelona newspaper explained, citing “official sources with knowledge of the incident” to attack him.
Nasravi’s prognosis is serious but remains “stable,” according to a source close to the victim.
Catalonia’s regional police, which is leading the investigation, did not publicly confirm the facts and did not respond to AFP’s request for information.
The first arrests have been made, the newspaper reported. The raid took place in the Rokafonda neighborhood, where Yamal grew up and where his father and grandmother still live.
Players often celebrate goals by making the shape of “304” with their hands, referring to the postal code of this modest Catalan community.
At 17, Yamal has become one of the fastest soccer stars in living memory.
He made his debut for FC Barcelona at the age of 15 and made a key contribution to Spain’s victory at the European Championship this summer.
