This year, Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency announced in a press release that the agency seized 119 tablets suspected of containing fentanyl. GCQA issued a press release on Monday detailing the amount of illicit drugs such as fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, ecstasy and marijuana seized since January 2023. According to the press release, 8.5 grams of fentanyl were seized in 2023. However, the amount is still subject to further analysis. Guam Customs stated in the press release that in 2024, Guam Customs seized 119 tablets suspected of containing fentanyl, but the tablets require further analysis. “Fentanyl has landed on Guam and claimed the lives of our citizens, and our officers remain vigilant and prepared to take appropriate measures,” Guam Customs Director Ike Peredo said in the press release.
