A 16-year-old died on Wednesday evening from a stab wound to the carotid artery following a “quarrel”, the prosecutor of Béziers (Hérault) announced.
Prosecutor Raphaël Balland said in a news release that the victim “was probably stabbed by a 19-year-old,” who fled before being arrested nearby. The suspect was subsequently detained.
“The cause is yet to be determined”
Another man, 39, was also detained despite having stab wounds on his arms “which he attributed to the deceased teenager,” prosecutors said.
Raphael Barand assured, however, that the quarrel, “for reasons yet to be determined,” had nothing to do with the fiesta, a popular festival that includes bullfighting and which began in Béziers on Wednesday and will last until Sunday.
